The higher management body of our school is The Department of Education, Sports and Tourism of the Administration of the Oktyabrsky district of Grodno.
The subject of the school activity is the implementation of educational activities, which include both upbringing and education, in accordance with the legislation of the Republic of Belarus.
The main goal of the school is to form an intellectual, educated, morally mature, multi-faceted personality capable of realizing creative potential in dynamic socio-economic conditions.
The main objectives of the school are:
*to ensure that the students get general basic education and general secondary education in accordance with the educational standards of general secondary education;
* to form citizenship, patriotism and national consciousness on the basis of the state ideology;
*to make the students ready for a separate life and work, conscious professional self-determination, continuation of education, work and social activities, family life;
* to strengthen and protect the students’ physical and mental health , foster careful and responsible attitude to their health and other citizens’ health, form hygienic skills and a healthy lifestyle;
* to form a moral, aesthetic, environmental culture;
* to form the culture of family relations;
*to create conditions for the students’ socialization and self-development.
The founder of the school is the City Executive Committee.
The school is directly subordinated to The Department of Education, Sports and Tourism of the Administration of the Oktyabrsky district of Grodno.
A long-term goal is to advance in quality of education by enhancement of the teachers’ subject-methodical training in conditions of realization of specialized training.
Tasks for the teaching staff of the school:
- to increase the level of the teachers’ professional competence by extension of the methodical network of the school and intensification of methodological activities, translation of an effective teaching experience, intensification of work on promotion the qualification categories;
- to ensure the high quality of subject teaching by improving efficiency of internal control over organization of educational process, implementation of an individual approach while working with different categories of students, activation of pre-profile and profile training of students at the 2nd and the 3rd stages of secondary education, ensuring high-quality training of the students for academic competitions, scientific conferences and Centralized Testing in 2019;
- ensure the implementation of legislation to protect minors’ interests and rights, improve the quality of career guidance with psychological and pedagogical support, the intensification forms of mistresses’ interaction with other teachers, parents and the stuff of the socio-pedagogical and psychological office;
- to form conditions for the preservation and strengthening of students' health by use of health-saving technologies in the educational process, acquisition of knowledge, values and skills of healthy lifestyle, safety rules by the students, providing them with timely psychological, pedagogical, medical and social assistance, creating safe environment for all participants of the educational process;
- to improve the material and technical base of the school by attracting gratuitous sponsorship, rational use of extra-budgetary funds, expanding the range of paid educational services, strengthening cooperation with basic patron institutions.
The progressive development of the school education system in the 2017/2018 academic year made it possible to implement the planned activities and fulfill the tasks, to ensure the implementation of the annual plan, the curricula and all the norms of the minimum social standards. This is confirmed by effectiveness of the pedagogical and student groups’ participation in activities of various levels, advance in the quality of education and upbringing of the students and, as a result, the victory in the contest for the best organization of work among small secondary education institutions of the city (in the 2017/2018 and 2016/2017 academic years the school took the premier place, in the 2015/2016 academic year it had the second place).
In the 2017/2018 academic year every school week was 6-day long: the students studied 5 days a week and could take part in various school events on Saturdays. There were 30 classes with 709 students at the school. (300 students at 1-4 classes, 313 students at 5-9 classes, 96 students at 10-11 classes). This was 180% of the design capacity of the school that contributed to transformation the mode of the educational institution into a 2-shift mode. There was an increase in the number of the students from 642 in the 2014/2015 academic year to 709 in the 2017/2018 academic year. The average occupancy of the classes at the school was 23.8 students in each class at the end of the 2017/2018 academic year (0.6 student less than at the end of the 2016/2017 academic year).This index is lower than the district index (24.1 students), higher than the regional index (18 students) and the national index (18 students). The ratio pupil to teacher is 12.8 people, which is lower than the district level (12.9 people) and higher than the regional level (8 people).
In order to create an informational and educational environment for formation of a person adapted to life in an information society, the school is systematically working on the introduction of the services “Electronic diary” (ED) and “Electronic journal” (EJ), which was used in all 1-11 classes by the end of the 2017/2018 school year. The institution uses ED/EJ service on the platform “schools.by”. In the second half of the 2017/2018 academic year the students of 5-11 classes (17 classes, 411 students) stopped keeping a paper diary. This step was made according to agreement with their parents. In order to develop electronic services, the school took part in an experiment, which goal was to introduce payment for school meals by bank transfer.
The educational process at the school is carried out by 64 pedagogues. This number includes 5 managers, 4 part-time workers. 94% of pedagogues have higher education, 6% of the stuff has post-secondary education, two pedagogues have a master's degree and one pedagogue is taking post- graduate study. Education of all the teachers corresponds to their positions. Eight pedagogues were awarded with diplomas of the Ministry of education, two pedagogues are winners of the professional skills competition "Teacher of the year" in Grodno (S.V. Bulak took the 1st place, O. I. Gruzdovskaya took the 2nd place), one of the pedagogues is the prize-winner of the regional stage of the Republican contest of professional skill "Teacher of the year in the Republic of Belarus -2014" (A.V. Positive trends in the qualitative and quantitative composition of participants at various levels of dissemination of pedagogical experience were noted in the 2017/2018 academic year.
The teachers of the school participated in online competitions (E.P. Ryzhko, I.A. Rusak, A.S. Timofeichik, O.I. Gruzdowskaya). They also broadcast their pedagogical experience at the district seminars (S.V. Bulak, E.M. Talish, A.S. Timofeichik , O.I. Gruzdowskaya) and regional seminars (E.M. Talish, I.A. Rusak). E.A. Lakotko took part in the International Scientific and Practical Internet-conference "Problems of cyber bullying: how to make the Internet safe for children and young people", U.A. Philipchik participated in II International Scientific and Practical Internet-conference for young researchers “Alfa” and XIV International readings named after Efim Karski.
The priority in the work of the school is progress in quality of education. The students finished the 2017/2018 academic year with the following indicators: at a high level – 83 students (14.6 %, which is 1% more than in the 2016/2017 academic year), at a sufficient level – 246 students(43.3%, which is 0.5% more than in the 2016/2017 academic year), on average level – 176 students (31%, which is 1% less than in the 2016/2017 academic year), at a satisfactory level – 61 students (10.7%, which is 0.7% less than in the 2016/2017 academic year). The average mark at the school remained almost stable, as it was 7.91 (Compare with 7.87 in the 2016/2017 academic year). According to the results of the final certification eight school students received certificates with honors upon completion of training and education at the II stage of general secondary education (These were four more students than in the 2016/2017 academic year). Sixteen students were awarded certificates of a special sample with a gold medal upon completion of training and education at the III stage of general secondary education. (These were twelve more students than in the 2016/2017 academic year). According to the results of the final certification of students there was stability at the II stage of general secondary education, there was a positive dynamics at the III stage of general secondary education compared to the previous school year. 92% of the students were able to make the varsity (These were 17% more students than in the 2016/2017 academic year) 61% of the ex-students started getting the budget form of education in institutions of higher education (These were 15% more students than in the previous academic year).
The school was a leader in a great number of academic competitions at the end of the 2017/2018 academic year. The number of awards in the competitions increased to 49 (These were 4 more awards than in the 2016/2017 academic year and 5 more awards than in the 2015/2016 academic year). In the 2017/2018 academic year positive changes in work with gifted students were observed in the Russian and Belarusian languages, Social science, Mathematics, Physics, and Handicraft. Nevertheless there were negative changes in Chemistry, Biology, IT, Geography. The student of the school became a winner in the regional academic competitions in Mathematics among the students of the 1st level of education (He got a second-place diploma). The effectiveness of participation at the regional level has increased (There were 6 diplomas, which is one more than in the previous academic year). There was stability at the final level (There were two first-place diplomas: in Mathematics and Biology, one commendable review in the Russian language and Literature), but the quality of academic credentials improved (In the 2016/2017 academic year there were two third-place diplomas in Geography and Biology, a honorable mention in Social science). In the 2017/2018 school year in the Math academic competitions at Grodno state University “School of exact sciences”, two diplomas were won (There was just one in the 2016/2017 school year): a first-place diploma and a third-place diploma. There was negative trend in the district academic competitions. (There were 17 diplomas, which is one less than in the 2016/2017 academic year), nevertheless there was a positive trend in the regional academic competitions among the students of II stage of general secondary education (There were 4 diplomas, which is 3 more diplomas than in the 2016/2017 school year). The number of awards in scientific and practical conferences increased significantly, if to take into account the cancellation of the city’s competitions of students’ research works "First steps in science" and "I learn the world"(There were 13 awards, which is 5 awards more than in the previous academic year). The rank of awards and the level of participation increased: positive dynamics was noted in the conference of the regional level "Crystal Alpha "(There was one third-place diploma that year, but there was none in the 2016/2017 and 2015/2016 academic years). For the first time the students of the school took part in the Eleventh International youth scientific and practical conference "The Great Patriotic war of 1941-1945 in the historical memory of the nation" (in Minsk) and won a third-place diploma and a certificate of appreciation.
During the year, the students of the school took an active part in the Republican Internet academic competitions (the Russian and Belarusian languages, Biology, Geography, Chemistry, Physics, the English language), Mathematical academic competitions on the Internet for students of V-VII classes at Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno, biological academic competitions on the Internet at The Belarusian State University and Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno. According to the results of participation in the distance competitions six awards were won (two first-place diploma in Biology at the national level, four third-place diplomas in English, Geography and Biology at the regional level). In the international competition in Informatics "The Beaver" 96 diplomas were got, including 32 first-place diploma, 43 second-place diploma, 21 third-place diploma. In cooperation with Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno the students of 9-10 classes of the school took part in the 10th city project of the Department of the Russian and foreign literature of the Philological Faculty "Life is given only to a word...". The students won four awards, including one the first position, two the second positions, one the third position (This was one more award than in the 2016/2017 academic year). The pupils of the school from the 5-11 classes took part in the third regional festival of rhetorical skill and won two first-place diplomas (This was one more than in the 2016/2017 academic year). There was positive dynamics in participation in the Regional stage of the academic competitions for schoolchildren from the Union state "Russia and Belarus: historical and spiritual community": a third-place diploma was got (This was one more award than in the previous academic year). The team of students of the school (the leader of the team A.R. Matuk, a teacher of World Art Culture) efficiently performed at the regional competition in Local History "I’m protected by this city": they won a first-place diploma for the second time (There was a second-place diploma in the 2016/2017 academic year).
During the 2017/2018 academic year the pedagogues and students actively took part in the events within the campaign "Let’s get children ready for school together", “We draw our lives by ourselves! Viva life!”; the psychological campaign "Life is beautiful!" that was a part of a month’s campaign for the prevention of suicidal behavior "Alko.Stop", which aim was to prevent drinking alcohol; the campaign dedicated to the international AIDS day "I know. I support. I join"; a charitable campaign "Christmas miracles"; a labor campaign "Our pioneering work is for you, our Motherland!", aimed at the gathering of recyclable materials; "Be attentive: children are here!»; “The mission is to live!”, "Smile at life!”, “A veteran lives nearby"; "Give a helpful hand"; the republican patriotic campaign "I’m proud of living in Belarus"; the patriotic marathon " Let’s be together for a strong and prosperous Belarus"; the ecological campaign "For the cleanliness of the native city," etc.
The effectiveness and quality of students ' participation in district, regional and national contests increased. Veronika Kozich won the Republican art contest for the best drawing about the Air Force and Air Defense Forces, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus.
The team of the school (the leader: A.R. Matuk) became the winner in the regional competition in Local History "I’m protected by this city" (There was a first-place diploma) There were several awards in regional contests in the 2017/2018 academic year: Evgenij Klimets (a second-place diploma) at the twentieth regional contest of children's creativity “Rescuers in children’s eyes" in the nomination "Poem", Vitalina Obukhovich (a third-place diploma) in the regional Internet-competition of photos "Funny pets". The students of legal classes Jana Tanchik and Carolina Sevastianovich in cooperation with the Internal Affairs Department of the Administration of Oktyabrsky district of Grodno got a prize in a special nomination "Best vocal group" at regional show-contest of Amateur performances among the stuff of Internal Affairs Agencies of the Grodno Regional Executive Committee. There also were some awards in the district show-contest of children's creativity "Rescuers in children’s eyes" in the category "Poem" (a first-place diploma), the district level of the open public republican contest of children's drawing "Make friends with sports!"(two second-place diplomas). The students got a second-place diploma in the district contest" Selfie. April 2018”. There also were a second-place diploma in the category "Me and my friends" and a second-place diploma in the category "I and sport", which were hold as a part of the interdepartmental preventive action "Save your tomorrow. AlkoSTOP!".
Analysis of the results of participation in various competitions shows that the institution successfully maintained a leading position in all sports included into the program of the city’s year-round sports festival for schoolchildren (There was the second place in the 2016/2017 academic year). The results of regional competitions are very good too. Thus, at the end of the 2017/2018 academic year, the students took the second place. For reference, in the 2016/2017 academic year at the end of the district’s year-round sports festival for schoolchildren the school had the second place among small schools.
These school’s results indicate the favorable conditions for the disclosure of intellectual and creative potential of students, the development of a many-sided personality.
The school is open for the students until late at night and even at weekends. Students can spend their free time visiting various clubs, studios, electives. The sports hall is open until late in the evening. Experienced coaches conduct volleyball and basketball sections. The school has two computer classrooms; in the Chemistry room the students’ and teachers’ workplaces are equipped with PCs. The teachers’ working places are fully computerized, as well as the social-pedagogical and psychological office, managers’ and personnel department’s offices. All classrooms have a local network with the Internet access. The school has an information and library center, which has four PCs and a multifunctional device for scanning, photocopying and printing documents, which can be used both by the students and teachers of the school.
In accordance to paragraph 4 of article 20 in the Code of the Republic of Belarus on education, the institution ensures a sufficiently high quality of education. This is confirmed by the effectiveness of the teachers’ and students’ participation in competitions, academic competitions, conferences and contests at various levels. The performance of the school is carried out on the basis of the legislation of the Republic of Belarus in the field of education. In the school there is perfect environment to ensure quality education and upbringing. Moreover, career guidance is provided to students in various directions, which gives them the right to choose their future educational and professional trajectory.
